What to do if MKV file has No Sound in Movies & TV apps – We love to play video files on media players present online or offline. Suppose you get a MKV file from your friend of his marriage ceremony. You wish to view it with your family and for this you open it on your favourite Movies & TV apps. But unfortunately, you can’t hear the sound of that video. Although there is sound present in that videos but it is not audible due to your favourite Movies & TV apps. The app can’t process successfully to make video audible. Some facts and basic about MKV file
MKV files also known as Matroska Video files which is an open source file format originated in Russia from a Russian word called matryoshka which means Nesting Dolls. MKV files are multimedia container formats that combine video, audio and subtitles into a single large file. Hence user can incorporate different video and audio files into a single .mkv file format even if the elements use a different type of encoding. It supports almost any video and audio formats. But MKV file is not supported by all media players due to its non industry standard, but there are many options available to play MKV files.
In order to play a video on computer, it is necessary that the system supports proper codecs to play the video. The main cause for this problem is that the DTS audio used in MKV files are not compatible with those used in Movies and TV app.
Solutions to play MKV file with audio and video successfully
- The Movies & TV app has issues with DTS audio which is used by MKV file. If app updating does not resolve the problem then you may switch for a third party media player such as VLC Media Player. So download and install the VLC Media Player, locate the MKV file and right click on it. Navigate to Open with option and choose the VLC Media Player and click ok. Now MKV file is audible successfully.
- Conversion of MKV files to MP4 – If VLC Media Player can’t play it audible then user has to change the file format to MP4. Open the VLC Media Player and go to Media Option. Now click on Convert/ save. Upload the .mkv file and select the video format MP4. Locate the destination path and save.
