Microsoft Edge disappeared and icon gets missing – You might be annoyed to see that your Edge icon gets missing or disappeared in Window 10 PC. The Microsoft Edge is the default browser which is replaced by earlier Internet Explorer. This Edge browser contains new features that will provide faster access, ease of web organisation, built in personal assistant and many more. Windows 10 users have complained about missing of Microsoft Edge from the Start Menu and task bar position. In this article we will illustrate you few troubleshooting methods to fix such type of error.

How to resume missing Microsoft Edge in Windows 10?

  1. Try to Pin Microsoft Edge to Start & Taskbar

It may be possible that Edge icon gets unpinned from the Taskbar or Start Menu position. We can locate Edge by the following steps below.

  • Go to search bar and enter Edge, Right click on the search result and select Pin to Start.
  • If above one didn’t work, the use Cortana to open Edge. Right click on Edge and click on Open File Location. In the new window, right click on Microsoft Edge folder and select Pin to Start/ Pin to Taskbar.

  1. Reset Microsoft Edge or Reinstall browser using Powershell

You can use Powershell to either Reset or Repair or Reinstall Edge browser in Windows 10. If above procedure did not work follow the steps below.

Go to the File Explorer and enter the path –


Enter the user account name in the path where Your Username is written.

Press Enter and search for folder naming – Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe and right click on it.

Select properties and uncheck the Read only option in the properties window. Then click on Apply and Ok.

To re-register your Microsoft Edge, go to Windows Powershell in start menu.

Right click on it and select Run as administrator.

In the Powershell Window, type the below command and press enter.

Cd C:\Users\YourUsername

Enter the valid user account name in the path by replacing YourUsername keyword.

Then type the below command and press enter

“Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}”

  1. You can scan your system using System File Checker (SFC Command)

Go to Start Menu and Search the Command Prompt. Run it as administrator. Type the following command and hit enter.

Sfc/scannow. Then Restart your computer to check Edge is normal now.
