How to restricts Word from marking contractions as error – Microsoft word is a tool which allow us to perform all writing related works in suitable manner. Although we prefer to write notes in English language. What will happen when we write something misspelled? The word will automatically catch the word and show a red wavy line below it. While this appears to be convenient for documentation work but reflects annoyance during exchanging casual documents. Microsoft word include built in software to automatically correct misspelled words and sentences.
Procedure to restrict word from marking contractions as error
The Word restriction over misspelled words or contractions is for discouraging informal academic writings. In this article we will see procedures to stop/ restrict word from marking contractions as error. Now click on File tab present in the ribbon menu of MS Word. There is a list displayed, choose the “Options”. The options will be available at the bottom left corner of the menu.
In the left side of the Word Options window, click on Proofing category. The whole correction and formatting of text is done here only. Navigate below and click on Settings just adjacent to the writing style under heading “When Correcting spelling and grammar in word”.
Now scroll down in the Grammar settings window and disable the “Contractions” option under Formal language.
