How to open On-Screen Keyboard OSK in Window 10 – We have heard about keyboard whose Port are plugged into the PC to work (Attached in the machine in case of Laptops). But there is a keyboard which is known as On Screen Keyboard (OSK), work with the help of mouse or any pointing device. It is not a physical keyboard but seen on the screen containing all the standard keys. User do not need touchscreen to use the OSK but work with the help of any pointing device such as mouse. Containing such feature it is also called as virtual keyboard. This article explains you the procedure to open the virtual keyboard and some facts regarding keys present on it.

How to Open On-Screen keyboard (OSK) in Window 10?

Go to Start > Settings > Ease of Access > keyboard. We can move the keyboard on the screen as per need using slider available there. The keyboard will remain open on the screen until we close it. We can change the pattern how information & data are to be inserted into the On-Screen Keyboard. To do so use the Option key which contains various possible patterns.

  1. Use Click sound – This option will enable sound whenever you press any key.
  2. Turn on numeric keypad – This will show you numeric keys during OSK expansion.
  3. Click on keys – In case you only prefer to click on screen keys to enter text.
  4. Hover over keys – This will automatically enter characters when you point the key with the use of mouse or joystick.
  5. Scan through keys – Scan mode highlights areas where you can type keyboard characters by pressing a keyboard shortcut, using a switch input device, or using a device that simulates a mouse click.
  6. Use Text Prediction – This feature will suggest words during typing to eliminate each complete word typing.
