How to fix Unspecified error while Copying in Windows – When we wish to copy files or folders from Phone/ SD card to PCs and Vice-versa, we may come across with an error “Unspecified error”. Same with the case when we want to copy WhatsApp folder from Phone to PC. In this article we will illustrate few methods to fix these Unspecified errors.

Procedure to Fix Unspecified error while Copying a file or folder in Windows 10/8/7.

  1. Change the file system in target disk

When somebody try to copy files from PC to SD card/ Phone and get this error, it means the target disk is a FAT32 file system. FAT32 files cannot copy a file/folder more than 4GB of Storage. So, user need to convert the file system to either exFAT or NTFS. How to do this? Follow steps below.

Insert the SD Card and right click on it and select Format. Navigate to file system drop down menu. Select either exFAT or NTFS from the drop-down menu. Then Click on Start button. Try to copy the file or folder and check whether problem is solved or not.

  1. You have to format if the target disk is corrupted

If your SD card or Phone memory is corrupt then you can get this error message as well. Firstly, check if any operation is performed on card or not. If not then formatting the card will fix the error. Follow the same steps given above upto Format.

  1. Stop Third-Party File Manager Operation on your Mobile

We use a third-party File Manager in your device, which synchronizes all files and folder in it. When we wish to transfer files from mobile to PC using USB cable then already using files/ folder by Third-Party Manager would restrict operation and show such unspecified error. So, you need to stop operation of third-party file manager to fix this error.
