How to Configure a Printer in Windows 7 PC – Printers and Scanner are the essential peripheral connected with computer these days. All printing and scanning works are done with the help of these electronic devices. Printers are used mainly to print images, text and other graphics. Scanners are used to scan hard copy of images and convert it into digital copy so as to see and share on computers. So, one has to install or configure it with available PC to accomplish such tasks. The configuration is done with hardware as well as with software.
After setting up all hardware with computer, the user need to install driver software for interaction between the printer or scanner and computers. Each version of windows requires different settings. In this article we will focus on setting on Window 7 PC.
The following steps need to follow in order to install & operate printers on Window 7:
- Go to Start, present on the lower left end of the computer screen.
- Now pop up list will open, select for “Devices and Printers” and open it.
- Right click on the printer or scanner which user want to install or configure. After clicking right a down drop menu will appears.
- Select Printer Properties from the drop-down menu. Now a dialog box will open entitled Printer Properties. A user need to configure ports, update drivers and customize your hardware options here only.
- Click the Ports tab from the list of tabs at the top of the box.
- Click on the Configure port button.
- Adjust all settings available here and click on OK to save your configuration. All these are done to configure ports in window 7.
The following steps need to follow in order to configure other printing preferences: –
- Go to Start, present on the lower left end of the computer screen.
- Now pop up list will open, select for “Devices and Printers” and open it.
- Right click on the printer or scanner which user want to install or configure. After clicking right a down drop menu will appears.
- Now select Printer Preferences from the drop-down menu. Again, a dialog box entitled Printer Preferences will open.
- Now choose page layout, sheet size, paper source and double-or-single-sided print setting as per need.
- Click on the Ok button to save your adjusted printing/scanning preferences.
