Backup and Sync replace Google Drive Desktop App in March 2018 – Google has recently announced an official notification related to replacement of Google Drive Desktop app by Backup and Sync app. According to Google, the support to Google Drive will completely shut down by March 12, 2018. The existing user of Google Drive repetitively receiving going away notification of such app. The app will be temporarily shut down on 11 December 2017. Although the user must know that only app is being shut down not the service. Google is directing their user to switch into another similar app known as Backup and Sync. The new app will work similar to the Google Drive app. The functions in Backup and Sync app will be nearly same with the added option to save some space while uploading high quality photos.
Google has decided to implement two replacements depending on whether they are home users or business users. For home users, Google has Backup and Sync app that replaces and streamlines both Google Drive and Google photo. For Business Users, Google has rolled out Drive File Steamer app which introduced in March 2018. The Drive file steamer includes advanced features of on-demand file streaming and access to Team Drive. However user can still use Google Drive app from their Smartphone app and web browsers.
