Any program acquires graphics hardware via driver. But sometimes system shows an error message "Application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware" on the screen. As a result graphics gets disrupted or blocked. When an application tries to access the graphics it just fail. The basic reason might be Compatibility issue, Win update issue or GPU time delay.

It is an inbuilt tool to diagnose and fix normal hardware/ devices issue. Running the tool will resolve hardware & driver related issues.

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Hardware and Devices > Enter Run the troubleshooter. (Wait till processing is completed)

  1. Uninstall and Re-install the Graphics Driver

Sometimes post Window Update misconfigures the graphics driver; as a result error occurs. Or driver might be corrupted during update installation. So we need to uninstall and re-install the driver from OEM website. Also, download/ install the latest version of driver.

To uninstall driver

Open Device Manager > Display adapters > Select available graphics driver > Right click & Select Properties > Navigate to Driver tab > Click on Uninstall Device.

  1. Set preference for Graphics Performance

Customize graphics performance preference for specific applications. Preferences may provide better app performance or save battery life. Choices may not take effect until the next time the app launches. Windows 10 allow specific applications to access graphics hardware. You can access it from Graphics settings. This will not only improve performance but also save a lot of battery life.

Settings > System > Display > Graphics Settings

  1. Manipulate TDR Checker

The TDR feature was included in Windows Vista till Windows 10. The TDR stands for Timeout Detection Recovery. This feature was included to recover system graphics when OS fails to receive response within a given time frame. The default timing is 2 seconds. In reality graphics card takes more time to respond due to heavy rush on tasks. So we need to increase the TDR time by more than 2 seconds. As a result OS gets more time to respond.
