How to fix BitLocker Setup failed to export the BCD Store - For security aspect BitLocker Drive Encryption Tool is prominently used by Tech Administrators. With this context BCD file are more important. BCD stands for Boot Configuration Data. BitLocker work in sync with the BCD file and it verifies the file every time the user boot the machine. But sometimes BCD file do not sync with the BitLocker Setup. As a result, System shows an error message failing the Bitlocker Setup.

The error message would be "BitLocker Setup failed to export the BCD (Boot Configuration Data) store. You may need to manually prepare your drive BitLocker".


The message continues with a warning saying "Do not turn off or restart your computer until this process has been completed". The message follows with few processes just below it.


Procedure to fix BitLocker Setup failed to export the BCD Store



There are three successful steps which must be taken to solve the issue. All of them are unique and must be followed separately. The correct process would be to follow each one by one.




  • Repair MBR and rebuild the BCD file





In case the BCD file is corrupt, you need to repair the MBR as well as rebuild the BCD file. To better repair & rebuild the file follows the procedure given below.


How to repair MBR?


MBR stands for Master Boot Record. This file is corrupted due to malware infections, improper shutdowns, etc. To repair MBR, keep the installation DVD in hand. First of all open the Windows Recovery Menu by pressing F8. When Windows Recovery menu is open, click on Troubleshoot. Then click on Advanced Options to get into Automatic Repair menu. Now open the command prompt window and enter the following commands one by one.


Bootrec/ RebuildBcd


Bootrec/fixMbr


Bootrec/ fixboot


Exit & restart the system.


How to rebuild the BCD?


Open command prompt window and type


bootrec/ rebuildbcd




  • Mark Partition as active





Press Win+X menu, open Disk Management and check if the target drive is active.




  • Ensure BCD to the correct path





This occurs due to incorrect partition establish in three given entries. So we need to make them arranged in correct partition. We illustrate process to make them arranged in correct partition.



  1. Windows Boot Manager

  2. Windows Memory Tester

  3. Resume from Hibernate




  • For Windows Boot Manager, open command prompt window with admin privilege. Type the following command and press enter to execute.



Bcdedit –set {bootmgr} device partition=C:


Where C: is the partition drive.



  • For Windows Memory Tester, Type the following command and press enter to execute.



Bcdedit –set {memdiag} device partition=C:


Where C: is the partition drive.



  • For Resume from hibernate, enter the following command in command prompt.



Bcdedit – enum all


Then,


Bcdedit – set {identifier} device partition=C:
