Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware - Suppose you have purchased a new keyboard from the market and want to install into your Computer. After plugging in the connector and also installing the device driver your keyboard does not working. In this case you will automatically reach to driver properties where you will get an error "Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware (Code 37)" in the General tab. The error indicates that this happens due to driver returning a failure when it executed the Driver Entry routine.
Procedure to fix Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware –
In order to resolve this issue and want to run your keyboard normally, we have two unique troubleshooting methods discussed below.
- Reinstall the device driver
- Run hardware troubleshooter
We will illustrate step by step procedure to perform these two tasks.
Reinstall the Device Driver –
Open the Device Manager Window. Then navigate to identify the device driver that is creating the issue. Select the Uninstall device option. Now unplug the device and restart your computer. After restart, plug the device in to the computer. Again open the Device Manager window. Click on Action button and select Scan for hardware changes button. Check if problem is solved. Else visit the manufacture's website, download & install the latest driver.
Run Hardware Troubleshooter –
Open the Windows Settings page by pressing the Win+I button. Then go to Update & Security followed by Troubleshoot. You can find Hardware and Devices on the right hand side of the window. Select it and click on Run the Troubleshooter. Then follow the screen option to select the hardware which has problem. If your keyboard is not working you have to run the keyboard troubleshooter. Likewise if your printer is not working run the printer troubleshooter.
