How to Fix Windows 10 suddenly deactivated after update?

  • Activate manually by entering the Product key
    User can perform this basic process manually by entering the product key. Wherever you switch from windows 7/8/8.1 to windows 10, use the product key associated with Windows 7/8/8.1. If you have purchased a preinstalled Windows 10 then use the product key with Windows 10. If you forget or lost the original licence key/ product key then you can retrieve it using Command Prompt. Enter the command given below –

-wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey

Open the Settings app and Click on Update and Recovery. Then click on Activation on the side navigation bar in the left. Then you will see "Enter a Product key" option; click to enter the product key with you. For older Windows version search "This PC" option. Right click on it. Then click on properties to see a new pop up window. On the bottom of the Window, you will be asked to Change or update your product key. Then follow the steps as earlier.

  • Run the Activation Troubleshooter –

It can be used to address the most common encountered activation issues on Genuine Windows including hardware changes.

Just Open Settings > Update & Security > Activation > Troubleshoot.

  • Go back to the previous version of Windows 10 -

The rolling back to the previous build of windows means if you upgraded from an older version of Windows 10, you will roll back to Windows 10 only. But if you upgraded from windows 7/8 you would be rolled to the respective version only.

Open Settings app > Update & Security > Recovery > Go back to an earlier build > Get started.

  • Reset or Clean Install –

To Reset à Open the Settings app > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset your PC > Get started.

To Clean Install à Download ISO file of Windows using Media creation tool. Burn USB Driver or DVD with ISO and make the ISO bootable. Then boot your computer with your bootable USB and proceed for clean install windows 10 on your computer. Windows 10 update related issues - Click here
