What to do if HTTPS sites do not open in any browser? - Each website is having a unique URL Address starting with http or https. There is a major difference between http and https. HTTPS links use SSL Certificate to make the connection secure or private. The websites concerns more about security aspect uses this SSL Certificate. But what if your browser do not support or open these SSL certified websites. If you are unable to open any HTTPS web page using Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox or any browser. In such case your browser will display an error like –


"Your Connection is not private


NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID"

Open most of the https certified website in your default browser and check if all of them are opening normally. If none of them opens you need to follow the troubleshooting methods given in this article below.



  1. Change Date & Time – This is the common fixation method to overcome this error. You need to change the date and time to fix the issue within minutes. In order to change the time – Go to Settings > Time & Language > Date & Time > Time zone drop down menu and select your correct time zone. Now try to open any https website to check if problem is solved.

  2. Clear SSL Cache Memory - Clearing the SSL Cache memory may resolve the error

In order to clear the SSL Cache memory Open Internet Properties page and navigate to Content tab. Click on Clear SSL state option to clear the cache memory. A successful message window will open to notify that cache date is deleted. Check again if problem is solved.



  1. Verification of SSL certificates – The other option is to test the SSL certificate of website. To check the SSL certificate refer to website https://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-checker.html and enter the domain name of website with SSL certification. If verification shows all green ticks then SSL certificate has no problem.

  2. Flush the DNS Cache memory – Open the command prompt window and type the following command given below. Check whether this works or not.



ipconfig / flushdns



  1. Disable VPN based software – If this problem gets started after the installation of VPN software for windows, then disable it to and check whether problem is solved.

  2. Finally Reset or Reinstall the default browser to successfully fix the error.
