Many Govt Sites Illegally Showing Aadhaar Linked Personal Info - According to sources, about 210 websites of Central and State Govt Dept were displaying Aadhaar Based Personal Information of the beneficiaries. The case is totally illegal which are going-on on websites. Displaying or sharing someone's personal information is prohibited by the Indian Court of Law. The UIDAI has taken it under consideration and regularly monitoring that the Aadhar based personal information should be removed from these websites.
The case was informed in the Parliament as a result Minister of State for Electronics & IT, PP Chaudhary explained that there has been no leakage of Aadhaar data from the UIDAI. According to him the Aadhaar data including biometrics are shared only with authorised agencies through secure applications process followed through well established procedures and protocols. The petitioners says that the data like iris scan and finger prints taken by the state violates citizen's privacy. Mr Chaudhary has given assurance in Loksabha saying "UIDAI (The Unique Identification Authority of India) has taken note of the same and is regularly monitoring the status to get the Aadhaar data removed from the said websites".
This was not the first case of Aadhaar data leakage. A database of user information like email address, Aadhaar numbers were also leaked through Reliance Jio online. With Aadhaar data being leaked by sites Hackers may easily track PAN Card details, Bank Account details and other sensitive data.
