Stopped Working Error While Starting Office 2016 or 2013 – In this article we will study about a new error “Stopped Working” which display on the screen when we start Office 2016 or 2013 applications. Since this error is generally seen when we start Office 2016/ 2013 product such as Excel/ Word/ Outlook/ PowerPoint/ Publisher/ Visio on your PC. The error which display on the screen might be “Microsoft Excel has stopped working” for Excel Application. The error name might differ according to the application being used. Before we start any fixation methods to stop such error make sure that your Office is fully Up-to-date. If Office is Up-to-date and error didn’t removed, then Choose troubleshooting methods related to Most Office Apps or Outlook. The troubleshooting methods are applicable for Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher and Visio.

  1. Procedure to fix stopped working error using Most Office Apps

Step 1 – First of all disable add-ins in your Browser. If you are using Chrome then use CSSEmerge6619 file to run the easy fix tool. If the problem remains there then select the next option –step 2

Step 2 – Disabling add-ins manually – Start your PC in Safe mode and follow the easy steps below.

  1. Goto Start > Run > Type excel/safe and Press Enter to start Excel. You can also type winword/ safe to start Word. Now the Title bar signify the safe mode. Now Click File > Options > add ins.
  2. Check the Manage list for Add-ins options and click Go.
  3. You can choose COM Add-ins instead of Add-ins, if it is not seen on Manage list.
  4. Now at last uncheck the add-ins list and click OK.
  5. Restart the application but not in safe mode.
  6. If problem persists, repeat the step and if not go to next step.

Step 3 – Repair your Office product. This process is useful if any one of the app is damaged or corrupted. If problems persists go to next step.

Step 4 – Uninstall and reinstall Office

Step 5 – Device Drivers might be Incompatible. In such case user has to update Window and Microsoft both to get the latest device driver. Procedure to do this in Window 10 is given below.

  1. Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update
  2. Now select Check online for updates from Microsoft Update. If updates are available it will process automatically.

2.Procedure to fix stopped working error using Outlook

      Step 1 – Create a new Outlook Profile

Step 2 – Remove add-ins. Go to Start > Run > Type outlook/Safe and Press Enter to start Outlook. Now Outlook is open in safe mode. Goto File > Options > Add-Ins. Click on Manage > Select Outlook Add Ins and click Go. Uncheck the add Ins from the list and click OK. Restart Outlook not in safe mode to check if problem is fixed. If problem persists then follow next step

Step 3 – Repair Office. Repair your Office product. This process is useful if any one of the app is damaged or corrupted. If problems persists go to next step.
